06-GPS is the first independent company in The Netherlands with a nation wide network of GNSS reference stations, since January 1st 2003. As a customer of this network you can survey throughout The Netherlands at the highest level of accuracy with only just one GNSS receiver. Many engineering companies, governmental institutions, public utilities and contractors save time and money every day by working with their GNSS receiver in combination with the network of 06-GPS. NewsOctober 2011As result of increasing sun activity, attended with ionospheric disturbances, there is a possibility that GNSS(-RTK) users get affected by decreased precision an increased fixing times: the time required by a GNSS-receiver to reach cm-precise solutions. The sun is going towards a new maximum, see: http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/images/ssn_predict_l.gif and will probably reach its maximum of activity in 2013-2014. The signals from satellite to receiver pass through several layers of the atmosphere including the ionosphere. The route and duration of GNSS-signals is influenced by and depends on the level of electrons. Specially during the winter period, this is the case in the northern hemisphere. The level by which the RTK-network can model the ionosphere is given by the ionospheric remaining error. this remaining error can be found real-time at our netwerkmonitor. For maximum productivity a number of subjects are of importance: - Use as many satellites as possible. So use of GLONASS beside GPS is recommended. - Try to avoid weak satellite configurations (high PDOP) if possible. - Wait for one minute after fixing before starting to survey. This way the rover has more time to model remaining errors and to fix as many satellites as possible. - Make use of the extra information that is send by RTCM version 3.1 messages. The mountpoint 06GPSVRSGLO31 contains these messages. In RTCM version 3.1, there are 2 messages available to send extra information from the RTK-network to the GNSS rover: RTCM type 1030: GPS network remaining error RTCM type 1031: GLONASS network remaining error In these messages is stated per satellite how much uncertainty is still present in the TRK signal as result of the ionosphere. GNSS rovers can benefit from this information by adjusting their algorithms as well as possible to the situation and so improve their performance compared to RTCM 3.0. GNSS NetworkA total of 38 reference stations form the nation wide network of 06-GPS. All these locations GNSS antennas have a free horizon and so all available satellites are observed. Also all equipment is placed within a building in a protected and secured locker. PartnersTo guarantee nation wide coverage 06-GPS has partnerships with German and Belgium governmental institutions to exchange reference station data from the border regions. The German stations are part of the SAPOS network of the Landesvermessungsamt Nordrhein Westfalen (Bonn) or of the Landesvermessung + Geobasisinformation Niedersachsen (Hannover). The Belgium stations are part of the FLEPOS network of the Agentschap voor Geografische Informatie Vlaanderen.. Besides that 06-GPS also has a partnership with the German ASCOS network of AXIO-net.. Real Time Kinematic, Network DGNSS and Post-processing ServicesThe Real Time Kinematic method is suited for surveying with cm accuracy using GNSS. With a single receiver the accuracy would be several metres at best due to the influences of atmospherical disturbances and satellite orbit errors. However surveying relative to GNSS base receivers on know positions makes it possible to reach centimetre accuracy. The method used by 06-GPS consists of sending the GNSS receiver (rover) a correction by mobile phone or – internet every single second. These corrections result from an error modelling by which several reference stations are taken into account and can be combined with the GNSS observations of the rover to eliminate the positioning errors. For decimetre accuracy there is the DGNSS (a differential GPS) service. This network service sends less complicated corrections which can be processed by cheaper GNSS equipment to a position accuracy on decimetre level. Surveying relatively in regard to other reference stations can also be done afterwards. This is called post processing. Logged GNSS data of an unknown position is combined with data from a known position (reference station). 06-GPS logs all raw data of all reference station continuously so this information can afterwards be used for post processing. Other applications beside land surveys are aerial photogrammetry and remote sensing. Required rover specificationsA GNSS RTK rover needs to meet a number of specifications to be able to function within the 06-GPS network. In general every modern receiver meets these requirements and can be used. The required specifications are: - 24 channel (12+12) L1/L2-frequency receiver. With a L1 only receiver the required accuracy is not achievable. - RTK functionality of the firmware. The software of the GNSS receiver needs to be able to process corrections of the RTCM V2.x of V3.x type. - GSM-link or GPRS/UMTS. Communication between the GNSS receiver in the field and the 06-GPS control station needs to take place by mobile phone or - internet. The GNSS receiver or more exact the controller (fieldbook) needs to be able to control the modem and to input a specific Phone number or to have NTRIP functionality. ProcedureWith the links below you can download all information about subscriptions and prices. In the price list are 3 different RTK subscription types enabling you to optimize the 06-GPS network availability to your own needs and application. A separate subscription is needed for each rover. It is possible to test the 06-GPS network at a reduced rate with a once only 1 month RTK test subscription. Schools and universities can permanently use the 06-GPS network at a reduced rate for educational purposes by an educational subscription. For local communities there is also a special subscription type. For this subscription additional conditions are in force. After completing the subscription forms, you can mail, fax or e-mail it to 06-GPS. If needed you can start your survey the same day! FormsRINEX and Virtual RINEX WebserviceFor the Online supply of RINEX and Virtual RINEX data you can use the 06-GPS RINEX Webservice. This shows you the availability of the RINEX data and offers graphical and alphanumerical tools to select (virtual) reference station(s), periodes and timespans to enable easy and speedy download of the needed data. The Webserver supports several formats, data compresion methods and file naming conventions.
